Ontology Mapper Minutes

Present on the call: Ketty, Paul, Prakash, Mark and Aaron Abend (small group because most are at the CTSA meeting in DC)

1)     Aaron Abend with Recombinant (a healthcare data warehousing company) joined our group. He and Recombinant already are working partners with U Mass, UCD, and UW(?)

2)     He explained that his firm works closely with U Mass Medical Systems and has been able to acquire their healthcare data (~120 mio records). They had to overcome governance and IRB issues, but they were able to work it through. Ketty brought up the potential usage of this data, rather than re-inventing the wheel and generate table structures and fake data.

3)     Aaron also brought up his involvement with working with i2b2 and his knowledge of ETL. So we would have another reference point if Paul needs it.

4)     Aaron inquired if there could be some monetary compensation for his firm’s collaboration. Paul and Ketty said that this decision would have to be made by Rob, our fearless team leader.

5)     Mark, Prakash and Aaron also had a great discussion on data structures and the development of the Ontomapper on the i2b2 platform.
