Project Summary:
MedCo is the first operational system that makes sensitive medical-data available for research in a simple, privacy-conscious and secure way. It enables hundreds of clinical sites (with or without an i2b2 installation) to federate and collectively protect their data for securely sharing them with researchers, without single points of failure.
MedCo builds on top of an i2b2 core installation and i2b2 data model and transparently provides advanced privacy-enhancing techniques, such as:
- Collective homomorphic encryption;
- Secure distributed protocols;
- Differential privacy.
The MedCo software, its deployment Docker images, and further information about the technology, the software, and peer-reviewed papers describing the system and its formal privacy and security guarantees can be found at: https://medco.epfl.ch
