The i2b2 Webclient has five main components, and they are laid out in the following manner.

Each component has its specific function. Click on the links below to view the details for each component.

  1. Query Tool

The Query Tool component enables you to specify the characteristics of patients you are looking for. These characteristics can be any terms defined in an ontology such as diagnoses, medications, or demographics. Past queries or query results are also accepted

  2. Navigate/Find Terms

Navigate/Find Terms is where you can find terms you are interested in querying. You can navigate through logically organized medical ontologies using Navigate Terms, or search by text or code using the Find tab.

  3. Query Status

The Query Status component shows you if a query is currently running, or results if the last query had returned results in the Graph Results tab.You can also click on 'Query Report' to see a textual representation of your last submitted query. This often helps users understand their query better .

  4. Previous Queries

All previously run queries and their results are stored in the Previous Queries component. You can re-use them by dragging them into the Query Tool panels or save them into the Workplace. The most recently run queries are displayed at the top. You can use 'Find' to find a query you are interested in.

  5. Workplace

Workplace is a place to store any useful pieces of information you may want to use or refer to later. You may store previously run queries, patient sets, individual patients, and terms. You may create folders to organize your workplace. Your workplace is private by default (only you can read or modify what's in your workplace folder), but there is a SHARED folder where everyone has access to. You may use the SHARED folder to share terms and queries with other colleagues.
